Minutes - Les Guidry d'Asteur Meeting -21 August 2013
August 21, 2013Bonjour Cousins,
Our August 2014 Reunion is fast approaching and the Board of Les Guédry d'Asteur has preparations well underway. We hope that many of you can attend our Guédry & Petitpas Reunion and the 2014 Congrès Mondial Acadien.
Attached is the Summer 2013 Issue of "Generations" , our Les Guédry d'Asteur newsletter. Inside you'll find lots of information on the Reunion and places to visit in the Madawaska area of Maine, New Brunswick and Québec. Of course, you can also enjoy our regular features of Historical Tidbits, Bon Appetit and the Book Nook.
Recently, the State of Maryland formally recognized the Acadians deported to their State in 1755 by dedicating a very nice plaque at Princess Anne, MD. Several Acadians were invited to attend and make presentations during the ceremonies. You can view a nice photographic display on the event and a brief discussion of the activities.
I encourage you to read the article on Guidry Hardware. Their approach to business and how to treat customers makes one proud to be part of our family. It is who we are.
And, finally, spend a moment to learn about the two projects mentioned in this issue: the "Cajun and Creole Language Fund" in memory of Richard Guidry and the "New Acadia Project". If you can, please consider contributing to these worthy and needed causes.
We especially want to thank Allie Guidry for editing this issue of "Generations" and for administering our Guédry-Labine & Petitpas Facebook page. Allie's touch with the wonderful, reader-friendly layouts, pertinent photographs in each article and pleasing, seasonal colors always makes "Generations" one of the top newsletters published.
