Meeting: 24 Sept 2004
September 24, 2004 Meeting
Bonjour Mes Cousins,
On Saturday, September 25, 2004 from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon we're having a post-Reunion meeting of Les Guidry d'Asteur at the CODOFIL offices in Lafayette, LA. [FOR DIRECTIONS - SEE BELOW] It'll be a fun time to discuss our Reunions at Meteghan and Lunenburg, see what we did right and where we can improve for New Brunswick in 2009.
We also want to ensure that our family association Les Guidry d'Asteur continues to be active and serves as a focus for all of us Guidry's,Guedry's, Gaidry's, Geddry's, Gedry's, Jeddry's, Jedry's, Jedrie's, Gidry's,Guildry's, Guitry's, Labine, LaBine's, LaBean's and Petitpas' to continue to enjoy each other's companionship and to learn about our unique and interesting family. (Our name has many variations; I hope I didn't miss any, but I'm sure that one or two slipped by me.)
We've done a lot these past four years and we want to continue to help our many cousins learn about their family and be proud of it. Here's just a few of the activities that members of Les Guidry d'Asteur participated in recently:
* attended the Meteghan and Lunenburg Reunions of the Guedry-Labine and Petitpas families
* designed and sold family momentos as souvenirs of our Reunions
* developed a premier Guedry-Labine Family website
* edited an outstanding newsletter 'Generations' to communicate with family members and provide information on our family
* donated books on the Guedry-Labine family history and genealogy to several libraries in the U.S. and Canada to aid family researchers
* published a book on the Geddry family of the northeastern U.S. and Clare Municipality of Nova Scotia
* edited a Guedry-Labine Family cookbook so we can enjoy all of our foods
* quilted a unique heritage quilt of the Guedry-Labine Family
* initiated the Guedry-Labine Genealogical Database website that is striving to be a premier genealogical website for the Guedry-Labine family
* helped develop the text for and provided funding for an outstanding plaque at the 250th Anniversary Park in Lunenburg on the Guedry & Petitpas contributions to the Merligueche community
* attended a Mini-Reunion at Vermilionville in Lafayette, LA in May, 2003
So let's gather together for some comradeship and discussion on what we can do for our family during the next five years. Everyone's welcome and encouraged to attend. It'll be a lot of fun. Elaine has selected a nice cafe in Lafayette for all of gather for lunch after the meeting. For those that have never attended one of our meetings, this is where the real fun begins. The conversation is great, the laughter abounds and we all have a great time together.
So come and join us for this post-Reunion meeting.
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Au Revoir,
Marty
