Bonjour Cousins,

Allie Guidry and her team have completed another issue of our Les Guédry d'Asteur newsletter "Generations" . I know everyone will enjoy perusing this issue - devoted almost entirely to a review our Guédry-Labine & Petitpas Reunion in Bathurst, New Brunswick on August 16th. The newsletter is filled with photographs of the Reunion and events during the Congrès Mondial.

But, while enjoying the Reunion reviews, don't miss the very interesting old newspaper articles about members of our family in the Historic Tidbits section. And why not whip up a few Eggplant Fritters to enjoy while reading "Generations". Can't remember how to make them? Then you need to visit Bon Appetit on page 10 of "Generations".

We've reviewed a couple of quite interesting books in the Book Nook. I think most will enjoy both of these.

Allie continues to make improvements in our newsletter with each issue. "Generations" by far is one of the very best organizational newsletters published today. Not only does it have superb content with a variety of articles about our family and Les Guédry d'Asteur, but the eye-appeal, readability and layout are outstanding. Thanks, Allie, for another superb issue of "Generations".

Finally, we still have a few momentos left from the Reunion. Several are shown near the end of the newsletter. This may be the last opportunity to purchase some of these items. Several have the Reunion logo on them, but others have only the "Les Guédry d'Asteur" wording and are not specific to the Reunion. Conside purchasing a few of these momentos and support Les Guédry d'Asteur.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We are planning a new feature in "Generations" and need your help. We want to begin publishing a few older pictures of our Guédry and Petitpas family members. (I use the name Guédry to represent all variations and spellings of the name including Guidry, Geddry, Jeddry, Labine, LaBean, Gidry, etc. The same is true of my use of the name Petitpas.)

Please send us via email a photo or two of your grandparents, great-grandparents, etc. or a photo of a special occasion as a family reunion. We don't need a big write-up with the photo, but identify the people in the photo that you know, the approximate date of the photo, the place where it was taken if relevant and, if significant, a pertinent fact or two of the photo (as the occasion for the photo). You may also provide the Guédry/Petitpas family line of the folks in the photo if you wish. We'll publish several of the photos in each issue of "Generations".

Also, we would like to reach more our Guédry and Petitpas cousins and invite them to be a part of Les Guédry d'Asteur so they can keep up with our activities and participate in them. You can help by sending Marty Guidry ( guidryrmartin@gmail.com ) the name ad email address of your cousins and Guédry and Petitpas friends.

Remember that we use the names Guédry and Petitpas in the general sense to represent all variations of these surnames. Also, don't limit your submittals to just folks with these our family surnames - we want to include anyone that has our surname in their family history (perhaps their grandmother was Guidry) or anyone that has an interest in our family.

Louisiana Reunion in 2011

You may notice on page 1 of this issue of "Generations" that Louisiane Acadie is planning a major international Acadian festival in south Louisiana during October 2011. We will know more of the format of this festival a little later, but family reunions will be a major part of it. AND, YES, WE WILL HAVE A GUEDRY-LABINE & PETITPAS REUNION IN LOUISIANA IN OCTOBER 2011 . Stay tuned for more information, but do make plans to attend. It will be a fun time for all.
