David Emery Guidry playing guitar on stage

David Guidry, born 10 May 1960 in Port Neches, TX, is an accomplished musician - as a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. The son of Emery Joseph Guidry of Cow Island, LA and Willa Mae Arsement Guidry of Rayne, LA, David grew up in the Cajun-rich Port Neches area of southeastern Texas where his Dad worked at the Jefferson Chemical Company. David was the youngest of four children in the family - three boys (Michael, Keith and David) and a daughter Jackie.

In 1977 David felt the yearning to start his adult life and left Port Neches to enlist in the U. S. Navy Seabees where he honorably served his country for the next four years. He was stationed at ACB-2 in Little Creek, VA and was deployed for a year with the Mediterranean Amphibious Readiness Group in Europe.

After leaving the Navy, David moved to Florida’s Treasure Coast in 1982 and has remained in sunny Florida ever since. David has three children Danielle, Michelle and Emery Joseph II. He enjoys traveling to Texas and Louisiana each year to visit his family and lifelong friends.

An accomplished guitarist, David also writes outstanding songs and sings. His original songs are heartfelt and his writing style reveals a positive message that his listeners can relate to. David is the former front man of the rock band “Spindletop” and he wrote the songs for their self-titled 10-song CD. “Spindletop” was a 4-piece rock band featuring David on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Kerry Miller on lead guitar, Jonny Cockerham on bass and Sal Musumeci on drums. The band toured south Florida for eight years. Highlights of their touring days included playing a show at Tampa University and opening for the popular 1980’s band “Survivor” at Thomas J. White Stadium in 2002. In 2003 and 2004 “Spindletop” enjoyed air play on Orlando and West Palm Beach radio stations. David now entertains crowds with his solo act playing acoustic rock and folk sets at clubs, festivals and other venues around south Florida. His musical influences include Crosby, Stills and Nash, Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots.
