Shirley Mary Guidry

Shirley Mary Guidry, at 100 years old, is the last surviving WWII combat veteran in the Guédry family. He attended our Breaux, Guidry, Hebert Reunion on 15 October 2025 and captured everyone's hearts. Shirley's enthusiastic personality and broad smile are contagious. Shirley's son, Joe Guidry, is writing a book about Shirley's amazing life which he plans to publish in 5-6 months. It will be a must-have for all of us Guidry kin. Shirley's life spans four interesting areas - his military service in WWII where he was a combat engineer in the European Theater and where his Cajun French was invaluable to his unit; his family life where he and his wife raised three amazing sons along the shores of Lake Arthur; his work life as a respected jeweler for many years in Lake Arthur, Louisiana and his strong faith-filled life where he catered to and nurtured the less fortunate in his community of Lake Arthur for over 30 years as well as making an over 1200-mile walk from Prairie Ronde, LA to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.

To honor Shirley, proceeds from the sale of the shirt will be divided among the American Legion Veterans Home in Jennings, LA where Shirley currently lives; the Gary Sinise Foundation, a non-profit organization that honors and serves America's defenders, veterans, first responders and their families; and to offset some of the publication costs of the book. This tee shirt will be a great keepsake and will help our veterans as well as publishing the book.

A wonderful video created for Shirley's 100th birthday party on 10 August 2025 portrays Shirley's life in his own words. Developed by Joe Guidry from videos he and his family had compiled throughout their lives, it is 38 minutes long and well worth taking a few minutes to watch and enjoy the life of Shirley Guidry - a truly blessed man.
