Hi Folks,

I hope that all of you had a nice time at the Reunion in Henderson on the 10th of October . I appreciate the help of so many people in planning and putting on the Reunion. It was really great to see everyone there. We had approximately 200 of the family attending the Reunion.

Our next major Guédry et Petitpas Reunion will be in August 2019 on Prince Edward Island, Canada. We're hoping that many of you will be able to attend that one. Of course, we are just beginning the planning for that Reunion which will be during the Congrès Mondial Acadien.

During the Grand Revéil Acadien I had the opportunity to talk with the presidents of several Acadian family associations and unfortunately learned that some are disbanding after this year due to a lack of interest. The Board of Directors of the Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur would like to see our family association continue as an active and viable organization.

With that in mind we'd like to get your feedback on the Reunion and also some ideas on what you'd like to see in the future. Here are some of the things that Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur is doing at the present time: (1) publishing three times a year our newsletter "Generations" (2) managing two websites - one as a family website and one as a genealogical website; (3) having Reunions approximately every 3 years; (4) donating books about our family to libraries across North America where there are concentrations of Guédry and Petitpas folks and (5) published a family cookbook.

Please take a couple of minutes to answer these questions. You can either reply to this email or can copy the questions and send an email to me at guidryrmartin@gmail.com .

(1) Was there anything that you especially liked about the Reunion and would like to see us continue in the future?

(2) How could we improve the Reunion for you? What didn't you like about the Reunion?

(3) Would you like to have a "mini-Reunion" somewhere in South Louisiana in the next 12-18 months? If so, in what area or town would you like this to occur? [Note: A "mini-Reunion" would last 4-6 hours and would have a light lunch, brief entertainment and lots of visiting time.]

(4) Would you like to have a Genealogical Day periodically where we could gather, bring our genealogical materials to share with others and hopefully fill in some missing information? [Note: We likely would hold this event at a local library that would have the genealogical books and other resources we may need during the course of the day.]

(5) Would you like to have our Guédry and Petitpas families participate in a DNA project? Have you done DNA testing on yourself and would be willing to share your results? Would you be willing to do DNA testing on yourself for the project?

(6) What other types of activities or events would you like Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur to host?

(7) Would you want to help in planning and putting on events with Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur?

(8) Would you like to help in another capacity with Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur? If so, do you a specific area that interests you?
