Shirley Mary Guidry (1925-2026)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Marie Guidry on 10 October 2026 at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana. Shirley was a "Frenchie" - an Acadian who used his Acadian/Cajun language during WWII to assist his fellow soldiers and commanders. He was the second-to-last Frenchie to pass away. On 10 August 2026 (his 101st birthday), Shirley was inducted into the Order of Living Legends, and on 17 August 2026 Shirley Guidry was inducted into the Les Guédry et Petitpas d'Asteur Circle of Distinction. He received other honors in recent years - local, national, and international. Shirley's outgoing, positive attitude, friend to all he met, deeply religious faith, and beautiful smile will be missed by all of his friends and family.
