Bernard L. "Bernie" Geddry

Bernard L Bernie Geddry

Bernard L. "Bernie" Geddry for his pioneering research of Augustin Guédry (husband of Marie Jeanson) and Augustin's founding of the Nova Scotia community Chéticamp (today St. Alphonse) in 1768. Bernie's groundbreaking work from the 1970s to the present has traced the descendants of Augustin Guédry's children as they settled in the Clare Municipality of Nova Scotia and in the New England states. Today these families have surnames as Geddry, Gedry, Jeddry, Jeddry, Gidry and Guidry. His 2004 book on this research The Story of an Acadian Family - The Geddrys, Guedrys, Guiddrys, Guidreys, Jeddrys and Jedreys of Clare, Nova Scotia and New England has received well-deserved acclaim.
